BOOK

You are said, “don’t judge a book by its cover”

You are said, “a face is the mirror of a soul”

Everything is ruled by appearance,

how to recognize what is true?

I’m reading now a book,

a big, a strong, a sweet, a hard one.

Its pages are full of straight words,

awesome adventures, and beautiful stories of intense love.

It’s being funny, easy to follow,

marvellously written in form,

rageously expressed inside the core,

fiercely exposed to the strictest law.

I can also hear music from its central plot,

giving it emotions and rythms,

ornating it with direct lines of life and love,

wrapping its content with truthful sounds.

I can’t stop thinking of finishing my reading,

the story is too gripping,  intense, coloured by hard effort.

It sucks my strength, it makes me see things different,

‘cause I’m now looking through its letters eyes.

That cover filled me by its magnificent craft,

somehow I felt myself chained to its powerful sight.

I saw a hint of its rough earlier walk,

I’ve seen its huge brightness shining on everyone’s world.

Each day I hold this book on my hand.

Sometimes I feel it’s lighter,

sometimes I feel it’s heavier,

everytime I think it just comes from a real heart.

I get cross with its darker chapters,

I get blind with its brighter ones,

but anyway, I always get out of words,

‘cause it talks to me and gets right into my soul.

I’m reading now a book,

a big, a strong, a sweet, a hard one.

Its pages are full of straight words,

awesome adventures, and beautiful stories of intense love.

I now think I do know what is true.
